Anthony Englert โ 'I cried literal tears ๐ญโฆ yes, over a business book'
Anthony Englert โ founder of ALFA Advisory, ex-Goldman Sachs โ posts a substantive LinkedIn endorsement after finishing Part One of Incorruptible. The post lands on the value-creation-vs-value-extraction distinction as the idea that 'really got me.'
โI just finished part one of Eric Ries new book, Incorruptible. I cried literal tears ๐ญโฆ yes, over a business book. Ries reconstructs case after case, back to the 1800s, of visionary founders building something that mattered, only to watch their impact-driven companies be taken from them and murdered by the investors and boards who were supposed to be on their side. Not for failing, but for succeeding in ways that threatened the next quarter or the status-quo. The idea that really got me was that most entrepreneurs assume VALUE CREATION gets rewarded. It doesn't. Modern shareholder capitalism rewards VALUE EXTRACTION. Confusing the two is where the danger lies for founders.โ โ Anthony Englert on LinkedIn
